Oyerepa FM under the Promised Broadcasting with support from the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen have paid court fines for the release of twenty-one (21) inmates at the Kumasi Prisons.
A total fine of Twenty Three Thousand Five Hundred and Sixty Ghana Cedis (Ghc23,560) was paid for their released.
The brief ceremony was held on the forecourt of the Kumasi central prisons on Friday 11 February.
The project dubbed ‘Help Me Pay My Fine’ was initiated by the Oyerepa Breakfast Show(OBS) and empowered by the Chief Executive Office (CEO)of Promise Broadcasting. Mr. Emmanuel Agyeman.
Each of the freed inmate was given money for transportation.
An 18 year-old boy from Sefwi Wiaso in the Westen North region told Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, host of Oyerepa Breakfast Show (OBS) that he was accused of stealing a phone and later sentenced to one year imprisonment by the court.
The 21 ex-convicts however expressed their delight and appreciation to Oyerepa FM for coming to their aid. They subsequently pledged to leave a good life in order to avoid another confinement.
