Over 1,000 Ghanaians, including the Minority Caucus in Parliament, representatives of Organized Labour, United Ga Dangme Caucus, La Youth Groups, and Arise Ghana, staged a demonstration on [date] to protest the sale of SSNIT hotels.
The protest, which began at Labadi Beach Hotel and ended at Christ the King, was sparked by SSNIT’s impending sale of its 60% shares in four hotels to Rock City Hotel.
Led by Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the demonstrators urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to immediately halt the sale, citing concerns about government officials and ministers buying state assets. Ablakwa emphasized that this practice is “wrong, immoral, and unethical” and called for an end to the sale of state assets, including the SSNIT hotels.
The demonstrators also expressed concerns that state assets are being deliberately run down to facilitate their sale to politicians, and demanded that the government take immediate action to stop this practice. The protest highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in the management of state assets.
