The Managing Director of Ghana Post Company Ltd, Bice Osei Kuffuor, announced that the new crypto stamp created to honour the silver jubilee of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is a groundbreaking event for any monarch in Africa.
Last Saturday, Ghana Post Company Limited revealed the world’s first royal crypto stamp to commemorate the silver jubilee of Otumfuo Osei Tutu. These stamps feature unique images of the Asantehene to celebrate his 25th anniversary since ascending to the Asante throne, as part of the king’s 25th-anniversary celebrations.
During an interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show on Tuesday morning, the former NPP parliamentary aspirant for Asante Akyim South explained that the stamps were designed to showcase the significance and impact of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on both a global and local scale.
He emphasized that the contributions made by Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II over the years have been acknowledged by the Ghana Post, and it was important to honour him for his role in the country’s development.
“We made this to give a true history and to mark the great achievements of Asante over the years,” he said.
However, he praised the Asantehene for being the first monarch in Africa to have a crypto stamp.
“Since the introduction of this special crypto stamp none have been made for any monarch in Africa and this is the first of its kind to be made for the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei TuTu II” he stated.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that a total of 36 unique stamps have been created, with 5 of them officially unveiled featuring images of the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II. These include the standard stamp, definitive and commemorative stamps, crypto stamps, a stamp album, and framed gold stamps.
