Otumfuo Twafuohene, Nana Baffour Opoku Agyemang, has appealed to the government to extend support to private schools as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s education sector.
Speaking during a visit to Executive Senators International School (ESIS) at the Kasoa Timber Market, the traditional leader noted that private schools have played a crucial role in national development and therefore deserve the same level of recognition and support as public institutions.
According to Nana Baffour Opoku Agyemang, adequate government backing would enable private schools to effectively complement and advance the government’s education transformation agenda.
He also advised students to be disciplined, respectful, and committed to nurturing their talents, describing ESIS as a reputable institution for quality education. Additionally, he encouraged parents to make education a top priority, stressing that children are the future leaders of the country.
Meanwhile, DSP Victor Dosoo, Director of Public Relations Affairs at the Central East Regional Police Command, urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s online activities, particularly on social media.
He cautioned that although technology has become an essential part of modern life, unregulated use of social media can negatively affect children’s morals, mental well-being, and academic performance. Describing social media as a “necessary evil,” DSP Dosoo advised parents to remain vigilant about the content their children access online.
