The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially named former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations, including cases related to the National Cathedral project, Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML), and two undisclosed matters.
At a press briefing on February 12, 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng announced that Ofori-Atta is now considered a wanted person and a fugitive of justice.
He emphasized that the former minister must return to Ghana immediately to face questioning, warning that legal measures would be taken to compel his return if he fails to comply.
Agyebeng also dismissed reports suggesting that Ofori-Atta had traveled abroad for medical treatment, insisting that he must cooperate fully with the ongoing investigations.
Addressing recent speculation, the Special Prosecutor denied allegations that OSP officials had raided Ofori-Atta’s residence on February 11.
Instead, he accused the former minister of orchestrating the raid himself in an attempt to mislead the public and undermine the investigations.
Ofori-Atta is among several former government officials currently under investigation by the OSP as part of a broader anti-corruption crackdown. Authorities have yet to disclose further details regarding the additional cases linked to him.
