The Ghana National Association of Teachers on Campus (GNATOC) has issued a stern warning to the Ghana Education Service (GES), threatening to organize a massive demonstration if they do not distribute laptops by March 20, 2024.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Ghana International Press Centre, Banayo Azure Joshua, the National President of the Association, expressed frustration over the delay in the distribution of laptops promised under the “1 Teacher 1 Laptop” initiative.
He highlighted that funds for the laptops were deducted from the controller on November 13, 2021.
According to Joshua, GES and its partners had assured them that 9,102 laptops would be distributed by March 20, 2024. Failure to meet this deadline would result in a series of actions taken by the Association.
Joshua emphasized that GES had already begun distributing 180 laptops to their members at Valley View University and the University of Ghana, both located in the Greater Accra Region.
