The Volta Regional Police Command has announced significant progress in the investigation into the robbery and murder of Christopher Ahordor, a mobile money (MoMo) vendor in Aflao, with the arrest of eight suspects, including a father and son duo.

The latest arrest, on May 18, 2025, involves Happy Sewordor, 65, believed to be the father of Michael Sewornu, 34, who was arrested earlier in connection with the crime.

Christopher Ahordor, aged 27, was fatally shot during a robbery at his shop in Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement Factory in Aflao, on April 28, 2025. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m., and the robbers fled with an unspecified amount of money from his daily sales.

On May 10, 2025, the Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), alongside the Police SWAT Unit, Operation Motherland Taskforce, and the “ACTION NOW” community watch group, arrested four suspects: Michael Sewornu, Korku Agboada (43), Atsu Agbagla (36), and Utsuku Onyeso (22), a Nigerian national.

These suspects were arraigned in court on May 14, 2025, and remanded into prison custody, except for Atsu Agbagla, who was granted police enquiry bail to assist with further investigations.
On May 12, 2025, the Police Anti-Armed Robbery Unit at CID Headquarters in Accra arrested three additional suspects: Hadi Sulley (22), Ewe Abraham, also known as Wale (25), and Eric Dordzinu (25).

They were handed over to the Volta Regional Police Command on May 14, 2025, and subsequently arraigned in court on May 19, 2025, where they were remanded into prison custody.

The most recent arrest occurred on May 18, 2025, at about 2:00 a.m., when Happy Sewordor was apprehended.

Police retrieved four single-barrel cap guns, one locally made pistol, 14 AAA and one BB empty cartridges, suspected Indian hemp, and suspected Tramadol from his room. According to the police, investigations revealed that Happy Sewordor collected these items from a house in Aflao allegedly belonging to his son, Michael Sewornu.

65-year-old Happy Sewordor and his son are part of 8 suspects arrested in connection with the murder
He was arraigned in court on May 21, 2025, and remanded into prison custody. The suspects are scheduled to reappear in court on June 16, 2025, as investigations continue.

The Volta Regional Police Command, in a statement dated May 22, 2025, and signed by DSP Felix Danku of the Public Affairs Unit, urged the public to support their efforts in fighting crime and reiterated their commitment to ensuring safety and security in the region.

Meanwhile, the family of Christopher Ahordor has scheduled his burial for June 7, 2025, following the release of his body by the Ghana Police Service.
