One person has been confirmed dead following a violent clash between two youth groups in Sankor, a suburb of Winneba in the Central Region.
The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, but disturbing videos circulating on social media show members of the rival factions attacking each other with machetes.
Confirming the incident, the Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, said several people sustained injuries during the clash, which occurred on Sunday, January 25.
Following a review of the viral footage, police have arrested many suspects in connection with the violence.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that a man identified as Excoba died after suffering multiple machete and gunshot wounds during the incident.
Police have since intensified security operations in the area and successfully restored calm to the community.
