One Killed, Four Hurt After VIP Bus Slams into Parked Truck on Accra–Kumasi Highway
A fatal road accident on the Accra–Kumasi Highway has claimed the life of one person and left four others injured after a Kia VIP Grandbird bus collided with a stationary MAN diesel truck at Frimpongso.
Firefighters from the Anyinam Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were dispatched to the scene following reports that several passengers had become trapped inside the mangled bus.
In a Facebook update shared on Wednesday, July 29, the GNFS said its personnel rescued two occupants who were trapped in the vehicle and worked with other emergency responders to transport the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Service confirmed that one male victim later died after arriving at the health facility, while four others sustained injuries in the crash.
Initial findings by the rescue team suggest that the accident occurred when the VIP bus rammed into the rear of a faulty MAN diesel truck that had been parked along the roadside.
According to the GNFS, the bus was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it struck the stationary truck, causing severe damage to the front of the bus.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are expected to be established through further investigations by the relevant authorities.
