One person has been confirmed dead, while five others remain in critical condition after gunmen ambushed a bus traveling from Bawku to Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
Reports indicate that the bus was under military escort when it came under attack. Despite security presence, the assailants managed to carry out the assault before fleeing the scene.
According to report, the injured victims were swiftly transported to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga, where they are receiving urgent medical attention.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined.
However, authorities believe it may be linked to the long-standing Bawku conflict, which has seen a resurgence in violence in recent months.
This latest incident brings the death toll to 46 since hostilities escalated in October 2024. Security forces continue to monitor the situation closely.
