Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the Member of Parliament for the Old Tafo constituency in the Ashanti region, has been exposed over his claims about the operational readiness of the Oforikrom Hospital under the Agenda 111 initiative were debunked.
The lawmaker urged President John Dramani Mahama to take immediate steps to deploy medical staff to the facility, insisting that the hospital was fully equipped and ready to serve the public.
Sharing a video of the hospital, Vincent Assafuah praised the former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration for completing the project, emphasizing that there was no reason for the facility to remain closed.
“Oforikrom’s Agenda 111 hospital is fully equipped and ready—Mr. President, deploy the staff and let’s serve the people,” Assafuah stated.
However, checks conducted by oyerepafmonline.com after touring the hospital with Health Minister, Minta Akando has revealed that the facility is not yet ready for operation.
While some medical equipment has been installed, significant work remains to be done before the hospital can function effectively.
The Health Minister stated that an estimated $8 million is still required to fully complete the project, highlighting the need for further investment before the hospital can commence operations. This revelation contradicts Assafuah’s assertion and raises concerns about misinformation regarding the progress of the Agenda 111 initiative.
The Agenda 111 project, an initiative by the Akufo-Addo government aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure across Ghana, has faced multiple delays and funding challenges. The status of the Oforikrom hospital has now become a focal point in discussions about the broader execution of the initiative.
