Benjamin Afrane Amankwah, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Oforikrom constituency, has unveiled an ambitious plan to accelerate development in his area.
To promote significant progress within the constituency, Amankwah has pledged to allocate his common fund to all assembly members, providing them with initial funding to spearhead community development projects.
At a parliamentary candidates dialogue hosted by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Amankwah outlined his vision for the growth of Oforikrom, focusing on key areas such as education, agriculture, employment, and security. His proposal is in line with the purpose of the District Assemblies Common Fund, as outlined in Article 252 of Ghana’s 1992 constitution, which mandates Parliament to allocate resources to support local development initiatives.
In an interview with Oyerepa TV, Benjamin Afrane Amankwah emphasized that the key to achieving substantial development in the Oforikrom constituency is through the equitable distribution of resources to assembly members, empowering them to lead the charge in driving the development agenda.
“There will be a development team in our all communities where my common fund will be a seed money for assembly members to champion the development we want in our constituency,” he said.
“If elected the member of parliament for this constituency I will direct the MP’s common fund to all assembly members because they are the main agents of development within our communities yet they do not have what it takes to champion that course” he added.
Mr. Afrane urged voters to look beyond party affiliations and choose a candidate who embodies change and development. His message resonated with constituents seeking effective representation.
As Ghanaians prepare for the December polls, Afrane’s commitment to grassroots development has sparked hope for a brighter future in Oforikrom.
