A fetish priest, Okomfo Amankwaa, has allegedly poisoned 67-year-old Opanin Augustine Amponsah in Amoawi, a community within the Offinso South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, July 15, 2024, around 10 PM.
According to Patrick Adusei, son of the deceased, his father had sought the fetish priest’s assistance to retrieve gold.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa News’ Dominic Duut, The deceased’s son revealed that his father died after consuming chicken meat and soup.
“My father told us he had gold elsewhere and wanted the spiritual person to assist him in uprooting it. So we went to this Okomfo Amankwaa to help us, and he agreed.
However, he (the suspect) later gave my father chicken meat and soup to eat, which he did. Shortly after eating it, he began complaining of heart and stomach pains and died on the shrine.” Patrick Adusei said.
The suspect is currently in police custody.
The family is seeking justice for their late father and urges the Ghana Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
