Residents and drivers of Obogu, a community in the Asante Akim South district of Ashanti are pissed off over the lack of development in the area.
The residents have attributed the lack of development in the area to the Municipal Chef Executive (MCE) of Asante Akim South District, Alexander Frimpong and the Member of Parliament (MP) Lawyer Kwaku Asante Boateng.
According to the inhabitants, the authorities of Asante Akim South have completely neglected them in terms of development.
Their major concern is the deplorable state of the road that links Obogu and Juaso which they say, has become unmotorable. The situation is affecting their social and economic activities.
The Obogu residents declared that, the potholes on the route impede movement of vehicles thereby making it difficult to transport t sick persons to Juaso for healthcare.
Some drivers and residents who spoke with Oyerepa Online lamented that, “the Obogu – Juaso road is just two kilometers, under normal circumstance, should not take a driver more than 5 minutes to reach his destination but it takes us over 30 minutes to make that short journey.”
They disclosed that, in the run-up to the 2020 election, a contractor came on the road but left right after the polls. Up until now, he has not returned.
