Founder and leader of the movement for change, Alan Kyeremanten, has chastised the Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, O.B. Amoah, over claims that the NPP can stop him from contesting the 2024 election.
OB Amoah, in an interview, indicated that, per the undertaking signed by all candidates before the superdelegates conference, Alan is in breach of the party’s constitution by deciding to go independent.
Therefore, the party has the option of taking legal action against him.
Responding to OB Amoah’s assertions in a conversation with Kwesi Parker Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Alan described those comments as bogus.
“Those assertions are bogus. As a lawyer, how can you make these comments? What pains me most is the person who made those statements, my younger brother, O.B. Amoah. I am even shocked at his level of understanding of the law and the reasons that influenced him to make such a serious analysis,” He said.
According to Alan, he is not a member of the NPP, therefore no law in the party’s constitution binds him.
“Let’s use common sense here. You are in a party, and you have signed a document of conditions for joining the party. If you are still in the party, then the laws bind you. When you are not in the party, how can the laws bind you? When you go to court, would you ask the court to bring the person back to the party again? Then I am really important to the party. You claim my resignation will not affect the party; why do you take me to court? That is why I am saying those claims are the most ridiculous preposition. It pains me that someone who calls himself a lawyer is giving this poor advice to the party. I am sure the party (NPP) will not take his advice,” Alan stated.
