A financial analyst, Clement Opoku Kyeremateng, has said that the government’s decision to send nurses out to the UK to work could cause a shortage of nurses in most of the health facilities.
Speaking to Akua Asieduwaa on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, he said that the nurse-to-patient ratio, which is 1:18, is not the best and that even the country needs more nurses in our health facilities, yet the government is planning to send nurses out.
Mr. Opoku Kyeremateng also questioned the government on the steps it had taken to increase the country’s nurse population. He said nothing has been done by them to increase the number of nurses, yet the government plans to send nurses out to help another country.
He therefore urged that the government concentrate on getting more nurses to enhance health work in the nation rather than “exporting” their nurses.
