Acting Director of the National Service Authority, Felix Gyamfi, has assured National Service personnel across the country that all outstanding allowances will be fully disbursed starting tomorrow, following a directive from President John Mahama.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Mr. Gyamfi confirmed that the backlog from August through December would be cleared, offering long-awaited financial relief to thousands of service personnel.
“Starting tomorrow, service personnel will begin receiving all outstanding payments from August, September, October, November, and December,” he assured.
He commended the President for his swift intervention, emphasizing Mahama’s longstanding commitment to ensuring timely payments for service personnel.
“We should be grateful to President John Mahama. Even before assuming office, he expressed concern over the delays in service personnel payments. Recognizing that the current allowance of ¢715 is inadequate in the face of rising inflation, he promptly approved the full settlement of all arrears upon reviewing the figures,” Gyamfi stated.
Gyamfi attributed the recurrent delays in payments to systemic corruption and inefficiencies, which he claimed had deprived service personnel of their rightful earnings.
“The last eight years have been plagued with corruption and incompetence, making it difficult to understand why such a meager allowance could not be paid on time,” he lamented.
When asked about the possibility of increasing the current allowance, Gyamfi hinted at President Mahama’s commitment to improving conditions for service personnel.
“President Mahama understands the economic hardships and has worked to curb corruption and financial mismanagement. I believe he is already considering how to reinvest the funds saved through these efforts to benefit service personnel,” he disclosed.
