Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A Plus, has called on the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to issue an apology to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A Plus believes that during his eight-year tenure as the leader of the NPP, President Akufo-Addo has strayed from the party’s traditional values, diminishing its appeal to the public.
He refrains from placing blame on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the NPP’s loss in the 2024 election, asserting that it was the Ghanaian people’s rejection of President Akufo-Addo, not Dr. Bawumia, that led to the defeat. This sentiment may be echoed in future Ghanaian history books.
“He lost the election because of Akufo-Addo. People voted out of anger for Akufo-Addo, and Bawumia’s problem in this country is because of Akufo-Addo. God has provided Akuf-Addo with everything, but you think taxing the bets of young Ghanaians is the best way to generate revenue for the country.
When COVID-19 came, every country capitalized on it to make money, but Akufo-Addo brought in Nigerians to take money out to Nigeria when NOGUCHI did not make any benefits. He introduced COVID levy after the Nigerians and his family members benefited from the disease for Ghanaians to pay,” he said while speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM.
Apart from failing the country, Kwame A Plus is of the view that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a bad leader considering how low the NPP sunk during his leadership of the political party.
To him, it is a shame that the once attractive New Patriotic Party is no more attractive because if the NPP has regional chairmen such as Wontumi and Abronye, then the political party has been shambolic.
“If Ghanaians vote and Nana Addo is not around, the NDC can lose the elections. The 2024 elections were protest votes and not because the people of Ghana did not like Bawumia. Everyone was calling for the head of Ken Ofori Atta but because he had interest, he never listened to the calls for the former finance minister to be removed from office. Akufo-Addo must come out to tell the NPP that he is sorry because the party that was given to him has benefited his family. Bawumia did nothing wrong but to pay for the sins of Akufo-Addo. Bawumia’s only problem in the whole country was his inability to control the exchange rate,” he said.
