The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has voiced strong disappointment over what it describes as a sudden reversal by the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the Ablekuma North election outcome.
Speaking at a press conference held at the campaign office of NPP parliamentary candidate Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie in Odorkor, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the EC had earlier confirmed—both in writing and in testimony before Parliament—that only three polling stations were pending in the constituency.
Frimpong revealed that the NPP officially wrote to the EC on June 3 to seek clarity on the election status. The response from the Commission, along with their statements before Parliament, clearly indicated that just three polling station results remained.
He, however, criticized the EC’s latest actions, describing them as inconsistent and damaging to the credibility of Ghana’s electoral process. “It’s a shame for this country,” he remarked, expressing concern over the integrity of the process.
Despite the confusion, Frimpong insisted that the NPP’s candidate won the election by a margin of 414 votes, and said the party would provide documented evidence to support its claim.
