The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has refuted claims that he is seeking to be the running mate to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
There are several individuals, including the Bosomtwe MP, who is reportedly seeking the position of running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
When Kwesi Parker-Wilson asked Dr Adutwum on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, if he is indeed looking forward to being Bawumia’s running mate, the Bosomtwe MP indicated that Dr. Bawumia has never promised him a running mate position.
“After the primaries, he (Bawuimia) will mention the name of the person he wants. So I’m not lobbying; we don’t lobby for the Vice President. The person has already made his decision and knows whom he will choose. He will be laughing at your back when you go to the lobby.” He asserted.
According to Dr. Adutwum, he wants to be the best Education Minister.
“I want to be the best Minister of Education the world has ever known. When I do that, God will do the rest.”
When asked if he would accept the offer to be the running mate of Dr. Bawumia, he said, “I will think about it with my family if Dr. Bawumia appoints me as his running mate.”
The NPP has slated November 4, 2023, to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the leader of the party.
The contest is between Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
