In a crucial step towards selecting their presidential candidate, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) conducted the balloting process today, September 13, 2023 at Party headquarters in Accra.
During the balloting, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong got spot 1, followed by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and Eng. Addai Nimo in that numerical order.
The candidates were five, however, the number of aspirants has significantly reduced to four after Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen pulled out of the race.
According to the elections Committee Chairman Professor Michael Aaron Ocquaye, has been keen on ensuring a free and fair internal election process, adhering to the principles of democracy and inclusivity.
The party has emphasized the importance of unity among its members and hopes that the selection of a presidential candidate will further strengthen their position in the political landscape.
