Hon. Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Okaikwei North constituency and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, has launched an award scheme aimed at recognizing and motivating both private and public school teachers, as well as non-teaching staff within the constituency.
During a media briefing to unveil the initiative, Mrs. Asiamah-Adjei emphasized the importance of acknowledging the hard work and dedication of teachers. She stressed that while providing educational facilities is crucial, it is equally important to ensure that teachers feel appreciated and motivated to give their best.
In preparation for the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Hon. Dokua highlighted that she has partnered with the Education Directorate in Okaikwei to organize Mock Examinations for all BECE candidates within the constituency. She explained that the mock exams are part of the plan to improve the overall pass rate of students in Okaikwei North in terms of Basic Education. She sees this as her contribution to complement the positive impact of the Free SHS Policy implemented by the Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo led administration.
Mrs. Cynthia Abonney, the Municipal Director of Education for Okaikwei North Municipality, expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it would serve as an inspiration for teachers to excel in their roles. She highlighted that the award scheme will be open to teachers in both public and private schools.
The awards will include categories such as Best Teacher in KG, Best Teacher in Primary and JHS, Best Teacher in ICT, Best Teacher in Social Studies, Best Teacher in Mathematics, Best Teacher in English, Best Teacher in Administration, and an overall Best Teacher award for both public and private schools.
