Buaben Asamoah, the former Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a member of the Movement for Change has levelled serious allegations against his former party.
He has claimed that the NPP orchestrated the arrest of Hopeson Adorye, a fellow member of the Movement for Change, on charges of detonating dynamites in the Volta Region during the 2016 General Elections.
During an interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, Asamoah boldly asserted that the NPP played a role in Adorye’s arrest. Adorye currently serves as the Director of Special Duties for the Movement for Change. These accusations have only added to the political intrigue surrounding the 2016 General Elections.
“I went with him around noon when he was invited by the Ministries Police Station and was asked to write his statement. Adorye was then detained till 6 PM and later came to us that they had to put him in cells because they were yet to receive a call from above’’ he stated.
“The issue is, why was he not arrested after the elections when he made these statements on several platforms across the country?” He quizzed.
Buaben Asamoah said the NPP folks knew arresting Mr Adorye would go against their party, hence they decided not to but now that he’s not with them again, they have decided to tarnish his image, they’re chasing and detaining him in police custody…”
He also blamed the NPP government for trying to bring down activities of the Movement for Change because of their poor governance, corruption, and economic mismanagement.
He said the NPP fears, the Afranfranto Movement will beat them in the 2024 elections hence the various threats
