The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, has announced that significant issues within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region have been successfully resolved.
Over the weekend, six elected executives of the Ashanti Regional NPP submitted a petition to the party’s general secretary, expressing concerns about the actions of their chairman, Antwi Bosiako (Wontumi), and the potential negative impact on the party’s prospects in the upcoming 2024 elections.
According to the six, Chairman Wontumi has failed to convene regular executive committee meetings. Again Wontumi has neglected regional executives over party issues that need consensus and has also failed to resolve divisions amongst constituency chairmen.
During an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time on Monday with Kwesi Parker Wilson, the minister acknowledged that the behavior of the six executives is having a negative impact on the party. He revealed that he had attempted to contact Francis Adomako, also known as Francois, the Ashanti Regional Organizer of NPP, multiple times when the issues arose, but unfortunately, his calls went unanswered.
“Francois never picked up my calls when their issue with Wontumi came up. He intentionally refused to return my calls.” Simon revealed on the show.
He further said, that before the six had issued their petition against Wontumi, they had met with NPP top executives but “they betrayed the trust of executives.”
“When he was asked about how he was going to settle the matter, Simon Osei Mensah said, the brouhaha has been resolved and everything is all right.
“I know that already, the problem is being solved within the region and at the national level. That’s what I can say.”
