The Chief of Amoah-Apagya, located in the Afigya Kwabere South District of the Ashanti Region, Apagyahene Nana Owusu Peprah II, has expressed his disappointment with the political leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for neglecting his community in terms of development.
The Chief has accused the government, led by Nana Addo Dankw Akufo-Addo, of falsely labelling him as a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). This false association has resulted in a lack of development initiatives being directed towards his area.
According to Nana Owusu Peprah II, his community, Apagya, has been unjustly deprived of development opportunities due to the perception that he aligns with the NDC. Consequently, politicians in the region have chosen to withhold the benefits that his people deserve.
The Chief’s concerns highlight a larger issue of political bias and favouritism, which undermines the principles of fairness and equal distribution of resources. It is crucial for political leaders to prioritize the needs of all communities, regardless of their political affiliations.
“In my own hometown Mpintin where I was born, the community is lightened beautifully. They distributed street lights in all communities around but they said Nana is an NDC so they won’t give him some”, Nana Owusu Preprah II lamented
“They lied to me that, they ignored my community because the road is not tarred but let me ask, are the roads in those communities with street lights tarred? They just hate me. Anytime I ask for the developmental project they don’t give me, but God is on my side”, he added.
