A senior lecturer of the Kumasi Technical University (KTU) Mr Edmund Oppong Peprah has declared intentions to contest for the New Patriotic Party’s internal elections this year.
Recall that, the NPP earlier this year announced dates for all its internal elections. Particularly the Regional and National Executives Elections will take place in April and June 2022 respectively.
Many party members have expressed interest in vying for certain positions in the elections and Mr Edmund Oppong Peprah is not an exception.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time Monday, hosted by BB, the KTU Snr. Lecturer said, he is ready to contest for the NPP National 1st Vice Chair position.
“I’m going to contest for 1st National Vice chairman of the NPP this year.” Mr Edmund Oppong Peprah disclosed on the show.
According to him, the NPP is heading towards generational gap therefore there is the need to get people like him with youthful exuberant to steer the affairs of the party.
“There is a gap between the aged and the young. If immediate measures are not taken, there will the issue of gerontocracy. So the youth of our party like me, need to arise to replace them.”
He further stated, it is about time the youth arisen and pick up key positions in the NPP to keep the party going. “It about time we get people who are ‘level headed’ to hold and put the party together.”
“Whether we like it or not this is the time for the youth in the party. We should not stay at the back; rather we must wake up and place ourselves for key positions in the party.” He asserted.
Speaking about his aptitude to hold the NPP National 1st Vice Chair position from 2022 and beyond, Mr Edmund Oppong Peprah explained that, he has trained key people to hold major positions in the party and has acquired mammoth familiarity to knob the said job
‘I’ve played key roles in the NPP. I contested for Member of Parliament in 2011, 2015 and 2020 primaries and over the years I believe I’ve acquired enough experience to get the party going.” Edmund Oppong Peprah avowed.
