The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned the unfortunate incident of violence that marred the collation of results at the Walewale constituency primaries.
In a press conference held to address the matter, the party’s General Secretary, Lawyer Justin Koduah Frimpong, assured that a firm decision would be taken at the next National Executive Committee meeting, scheduled for tomorrow at 10 am.
The meeting will receive comprehensive reports from the Ghana Police Service, the Electoral Commission, and key stakeholders who were present during the primaries.
According to him, this will ensure a thorough understanding of the events that transpired and inform the committee’s decision-making process.
The party took the opportunity to commend the Ghana Police Service for their swift and effective intervention in maintaining law and order during the chaotic incident. Their timely response prevented further escalation and ensured the safety of all individuals involved.
Furthermore, the NPP announced that Friday would be the last day for filing nominations with the Electoral Commission. This reminder serves as a call to action for all aspiring candidates to submit their nominations on time.
The National Executive Committee’s meeting tomorrow is expected to yield a decisive outcome, demonstrating the party’s commitment to addressing the incident and preventing future occurrences.
The NPP remains dedicated to upholding the principles of democracy and ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
