The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, for failing to sustain and translate the economic recovery inherited in 2021 into improved living conditions for Ghanaians.
Richard Ahiagbah, National Communications Director of the NPP, stated that despite the NDC’s campaign promises, the situation in critical areas such as cocoa, youth unemployment, and fuel prices has worsened.
Ahiagbah highlighted the NDC’s failure to address environmental governance, labor relations, and public sector ethics, exposing a contradiction between their promises and performance.
He contrasted the NDC’s record with the progress made under President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia from 2017 to 2020, when Ghana’s economy outperformed Nigeria’s and ranked among the world’s fastest-growing economies.
Ahiagbah questioned whether President Mahama’s government has improved the inherited economic recovery or reversed it, citing indicators such as rising fuel prices and unemployment.
He emphasized that the NDC’s economic management has led to a gap between macroeconomic indicators and everyday realities faced by Ghanaians.
