Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu has addressed recent allegations suggesting that he has been receiving benefits from politicians. In a statement, Manu explained that during John Dramani Mahama’s presidency, a program was initiated to provide cars to struggling celebrities, with the understanding that they would repay the value as a loan.
He clarified that although he attended the event where the vehicles were distributed, he did not accept a car as he already owned one at the time.
Manu expressed puzzlement over the criticism directed at celebrities who openly declare their political affiliations, questioning the logic behind such reactions.
He emphasized that his focus remains on his craft and contributions to the entertainment industry, rather than political entanglements.
“Why would you be angry if someone is affiliated with NPP or NDC? Are you wiser than everyone? Mahama realized that some celebrities were not living in good conditions, so he put measures in place to gift cars so that they could pay for them as loans over time.
“I went to see the cars with others who were struggling at that time. I told them to give it to others because I had a vehicle that was dear to me. I was driving at that time. No politician has ever fed me. Nobody can boldly claim so. So when I speak, I know what I am talking about,” he stated in a video shared by Express GH TV on their YouTube channel.
