Chief Dr. Aniekwe Obiorah JP, Traditional prime minister (Onowu) and Special Assistant to King Eze Ndi Igbo Ghana, firmly denied claims circulating on social media that King Eze Ndi has acquired 50 acres of land at Ningo Prampram in the Greater Accra Region for the establishment of an “Igbo Village.”

“We want to state decisively and without reservation that we have not currently acquired any land in Ningo or elsewhere in Ghana to establish an Igbo Village,” Chief Obiorah emphasised.

Addressing the media, he said the Ningo Chief had offered Eze Ndi Igbo a large tract of land for investment purposes, given their long-standing relationship and the Chief’s philanthropic intentions. However, due to ongoing litigation over the land, the deal did not materialise.

“The land matter did not go through because there was litigation on the land, and we don’t want to get ourselves involved in anything that has litigation in Ghana,” Chief Obiorah explained. “That land and the dream of purpose of that land died in 2013, after the video that people are circulating today.”

Onowu also addressed the age of the video being shared, pointing out that King Eze Ndi Igbo appears much younger in the video than he does today. “If you see the picture of Eze Ndi Igbo today and the picture in the video, you will see that he is much, much younger in that video than he is today. So it’s not a today video. Nothing like land, nothing like a kingdom,” he reiterated.

Chief Obiorah called for unity and peace among Ghanaians, condemning hate speech and divisive rhetoric on social media. “I want to tell my Ghanaian brothers and sisters, let us come together. Let brotherly love continue. There is more to be together as one people than tearing ourselves apart with hate speeches, hatred, and unprintable name-calling,” he urged.

He also lamented the tendency of some individuals to spread harmful and destructive messages on social media. “What do we gain? Most of us who go on social media to talk badly about ourselves and our great nation don’t even have businesses that we are managing. Many of us have nothing we are doing, and then we are saying words that are capable of destroying our nation,” he observed.

Richard Osei Bonsu, a Ghana-Nigeria relation, emphasised the importance of fostering love and understanding between Ghana and Nigeria, describing the two nations as brothers and sisters.

He categorically denied claims that King Eze Ndi Igbo plans to establish an Igbo kingdom in Ghana, labelling such assertions as false.

He highlighted King Eze Ndi Igbo’s significant contributions to Ghana, including investments, bringing in investors, establishing schools, and supporting homeless individuals. Osei Bonsu noted that it’s perfectly acceptable for Nigerians to acquire land in Ghana, given the strong bond between the two countries.
