Nana Kwasi Okoh II, the Chief of New Teterem (Teteremhene) in the Amansie West Constituency of the Ashanti Region has single-handedly constructed 3 merchandised boreholes for his people.
The official commissioning of the project came off yesterday, Tuesday, June 13 2023.
The 3 boreholes are estimated at a cost of GHc 50,000, according to Nana Kwasi Koh II.
Speaking to Oyerepa News after a short ceremony at the ‘Nana Fonwa Street, a suburb of the community, Nana Okoh said, the construction of boreholes was one of his major priorities when he was installed the chief of Teterem about 3 months ago by Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
According to him, he saw the need to construct the boreholes for his people at ‘Nana Fonwa Street’ because they lacked access to potable water.
“When Asanko Gold Mines brought my people here, they constructed taps for them but in the 1st month the taps stopped flowing, so for more than two years now, the taps are not working. So right after Opemso (Otumfuo) installed me as chief of Teterem, I saw it very necessary to construct 3 boreholes for my people to get easy access to potable water.
“We have inaugurated a committee to manage the boreholes for their sustainability. ”
The residents, on the other hand, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Nana Kwasi Koh II for the great kind gesture. They said the boreholes will go a long way to enhance their lives.
The boreholes will serve about 200 people in the mining community.
