The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, has cautioned that the party’s success should not be the sole reason for membership, emphasizing that some individuals are drawn to the party for opportunistic reasons rather than a genuine commitment to its principles.
Speaking at the party’s 33rd anniversary celebration in Accra, Kwetey lamented the presence of convenient members who prioritize personal gain over the party’s values and legacy. He warned that this trend could compromise the party’s integrity and purpose.
Kwetey stressed that loyalty to the party should take precedence over individual interests, and that its leaders and members must prioritize its interests above personal ambitions.
He called on members to recommit to the party’s principles and values, emphasizing that its greatest legacy should be the positive transformation it brings to the lives of Ghanaians.
The NDC General Secretary also reflected on the significance of June 4, the day that marks the party’s foundation, and urged members to honor its legacy. He emphasized the importance of compassionate leadership, humility, and a commitment to serving the people.
