The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has returned the soft copy of the certified voter register to Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC), requesting a summary of the data.
The Electoral Commission presented the final certified voter register to political parties and independent candidates in preparation for the December 7th general election on November 6.
Chairperson Madam Jane Mensah stated that this action fulfills the commission’s promise to provide soft copies in advance, as agreed upon at the last IPAC meeting.
She also mentioned that the commission successfully resolved all 158 cases received during the re-exhibition of the revised provisional voters register.
Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Tanko Rashid, explained that the NDC is seeking statistics and data from the voter register.
He expressed concerns about the integrity of the register due to ongoing IT system issues within the EC.
“We need to know the breakdown of the voter register,” Dr. Rashid stated. “It’s the EC’s responsibility to provide this information to all political parties.”
