Dr. James Kofi Annan, Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming parliamentary elections, has raised concerns about the integrity of the voter register.
He claims that the register has been compromised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), with over twenty thousand voters recruited from neighbouring constituencies. This, he argues, has inflated the register and created obstacles for the NDC to secure victory in the election.
Dr Annan alleges that these voters have been bribed with money to support the NPP, and he warns that the NDC will challenge any attempts by non-residents to cast their votes in the constituency.
Speaking to the press in Winneba, Dr Annan also accused the NPP of engaging in unethical practices by offering financial incentives to residents in exchange for their votes.
He pointed to the recent District Assembly elections as evidence of this troubling trend.
