National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, alongside regional party executives, on Saturday, August 10, visited Obogu in the Asante Akyem South Municipality to console families of the 16 members of the Saviour Church of Ghana who lost their lives in a road accident on July 28.
The victims were returning from the church’s annual event when their vehicle collided with a fuel tanker at about 2:30 p.m. The crash left the community in mourning, while four others injured in the accident are reportedly responding well to treatment.
During the visit, the NDC donated GH₵10,000 to the church and GH₵50,000 to the bereaved families.
Speaking to the mourners, Mr. Nketiah expressed his heartfelt condolences, acknowledging the profound grief, particularly among families who lost multiple relatives in the tragedy.
“If this was not the work of God, we would have been pointing accusing fingers at some people or something else,” he said, urging them to stay strong.
He added that former President Mahama and the NDC extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved.
