John Peter Amewu, the former Minister for Railways Development, has been released following his arrest by National Security operatives on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
Amewu was reportedly detained for questioning in connection with the $2 million Sky Train Project.
His arrest forms part of an ongoing investigation into the troubled Sky Train initiative, according to sources speaking to Citi News.
The project, which was allocated $2 million, failed to achieve its intended goals, as confirmed by Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, during a press briefing on Monday, March 24.
Dr. Ayine further announced that legal proceedings related to the Sky Train scandal would commence by mid-April 2025.
He reassured the public that the suspects are fully cooperating with investigators and emphasized that justice would be served, alongside efforts to recover any misappropriated public funds.
