Nalerugu Nursing College principal suspended

The Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health, has ordered the immediate suspension of the principal of the Nurses and Midwifery Training College, Nalerugu.

According to a press release dated February 27, 2026, the directive was issued during the minister’s working visit to the Upper East, North-East, and Northern Regions, where he inspected health facilities and training institutions to evaluate their operations and service delivery.

The suspension follows reports of unauthorised admissions at the Nalerugu College prior to the minister’s visit.

“Following preliminary findings, he ordered the immediate suspension of the Head of the College pending further investigations,” the statement said.

Minister Mintah Akandoh stressed that strict adherence to established admission protocols is mandatory, warning that any head of institution found engaging in unauthorised practices would face severe sanctions.

He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and maintaining high standards across all health training institutions in Ghana.
