The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a key figure in the local drug trade following a major operation in Buduburam and nearby communities within the Gomoa East Municipality of the Central Region.
The operation, carried out on Friday, January 16, 2026, led to the arrest of a 32-year-old woman identified as Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as “Mother.” She is widely described by local opinion leaders as a notorious figure who had long evaded arrest despite her alleged involvement in illicit drug activities.
The raid formed part of NACOC’s nationwide campaign to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse. It resulted in the seizure of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, along with items believed to be used in drug peddling.
Several other individuals suspected to be involved in drug-related activities were also arrested during the operation.
NACOC confirmed that the suspect had been under close surveillance for some time due to her alleged role in multiple drug trafficking operations. The Commission said it had received numerous complaints from residents regarding the activities of the suspects now in custody.
Officials stated that all those arrested will be processed and arraigned before court in accordance with the law. NACOC reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts to rid the country of illicit drugs and assured the public of its resolve to make Ghana a drug-free nation.
