The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects following an overnight operation targeting a suspected cannabis production and storage centre in the Volta Region.

In a statement shared on Facebook on Monday, June 22, NACOC said its tactical operations team carried out a coordinated raid at Koleonu, Wegbe, and Akplamafu after receiving credible intelligence about illegal drug-related activities in the area.

According to the Commission, the operation focused on a location believed to be a major hub for the cultivation, processing, and distribution of cannabis and hashish oil.

“Acting on credible intelligence, NACOC’s tactical operations team launched an intensive all-night raid on a stash house believed to be a key centre for the cultivation, processing, and distribution of cannabis and hashish oil in the area,” the Commission stated.

NACOC explained that the exercise forms part of its broader strategy to dismantle drug trafficking networks and disrupt the supply chains that support the production and distribution of narcotics across the country.

The three suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators as efforts continue to identify other individuals connected to the operation and uncover the full extent of the network.

The Commission indicated that the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law upon the completion of investigations.
