NACOC arrests suspected drug traffickers in major operations across Greater Accra and Oti

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested several suspected drug traffickers following a major anti-drug operation conducted across parts of the Greater Accra and Oti Regions over the weekend.

In a Facebook post on Monday, May 18, 2026, NACOC said the intelligence-led operations form part of its intensified nationwide campaign to clamp down on illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse.

According to the Commission, the raids targeted known drug hotspots in Kisseiman, Dome, and Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.

NACOC indicated that officers retrieved quantities of suspected narcotic substances as well as other incriminating items during the operations.

The Commission further disclosed that a separate operation was carried out at Alavanyo in the Oti Region, where additional suspects were arrested and further quantities of suspected drugs were seized.

It explained that the exercise is aimed at identifying and dismantling criminal networks involved in the distribution of illegal drugs, particularly within densely populated communities.

“All suspects arrested during the raids are currently assisting with investigations pending prosecution,” the statement said.

NACOC reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the growing drug menace in the country, warning individuals engaged in the illicit drug trade to desist or face the full rigours of the law.

The Commission also assured the public that it will continue to intensify operations to identify and dismantle criminal networks linked to drug trafficking across the country.
