Musician Mzbel has addressed what she describes as misleading claims being circulated by Pastor Fire Oja, following a recent defamation matter involving her.

Mzbel confirmed that the pastor was formally invited by the Ghana Police Service, arrested, and questioned over defamatory statements he allegedly made about her.

“For the avoidance of doubt, it is true that the pastor was formally invited by the Police, arrested, and interrogated in connection with the false and damaging statements he made publicly about me,” she said in a social media post seen by MyNewsGh.

According to Mzbel, during police questioning, the pastor admitted that he does not know her personally and acknowledged that his actions were wrong.

“During the interrogation process, he admitted that he does not know me personally and acknowledged that his actions were wrong,” she added, noting that the case has since been processed for court.

She explained that the pastor was charged and later granted bail, in line with standard police procedures, pending his court appearance.

“He has since been charged and the matter is being processed for court. He was subsequently granted bail to appear in court when scheduled, in accordance with police procedure,” Mzbel said.

She dismissed claims suggesting that the pastor was never invited or arrested, describing such assertions as false and misleading.

“Any claim that he was never invited, arrested, or questioned is untrue and misleading,” she stressed.

Mzbel further clarified that her decision to report the matter was not motivated by malice but by a desire to protect her personal well-being.

“I did not take this step out of malice. I acted to protect my name, my integrity, and my mental well-being, just as any citizen has the right to do,” she said.

She also used the occasion to remind the public that everyone has the right to seek justice through lawful means, regardless of social status.

“The Ghana Police Service exists to protect all citizens, not only influential people. You do not need power, money, or status to seek justice,” Mzbel stated, urging individuals facing defamation or character attacks to report such matters.

She concluded by reaffirming her belief in equal access to justice and expressing gratitude to the police.

“Justice is not a privilege. It is a right. Thank you to the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism and to the public for standing for truth and accountability,” she said.
