Rapper, Okyeame Kwame says he decided to diss Obrafour when he gave his platform to Guru to diss him.
Rapper Okyeame Kwame has revealed that he was prompted to respond to Obrafour after the latter featured Guru in a song that seemingly dissed him.
In 2009, Obrafour released “Nkasiebo,” a track that critiqued the state of hiplife, with lyrics aimed at Obour and Okyeame Kwame. In an interview with Zionfelix, Okyeame Kwame expressed surprise that his friend Obrafour didn’t inform him about the song before its release, which led to his decision to respond with a diss track.
“I was shocked when I heard the song on the radio. I had spoken to Obrafour and he never mentioned it to me. I thought he should have even given me a heads-up,” he said.
He said he had plans to respond to his colleague “I had an exercise book full of diss lines I wanted to use in replying to Obrafuor but my management at that time, especially my wife will not allow me. You have not made a song about Nkrumah, you’ve not made a song about your father so why will you go to the studio to record a song about one person?
Sometimes the people around you should be able to help you make the best decisions. I am sure if I had recorded that diss song maybe I wouldn’t be as relevant as I am now. It may be the saddest highlight of my career.
The fact that I didn’t diss Obrafour made a lot of forward-positive thinking people see me in a good light,” he said.
