Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his first unpleasant experience with fame happened in Ghana, where a private moment unexpectedly found its way onto social media.

Speaking in an interview, the award-winning singer recalled that a woman took and shared a photo of him while he was asleep without his permission, an incident he said quickly attracted widespread attention and left him overwhelmed.

“My first negative experience with fame was in Ghana. A girl posted me while sleeping, and everyone kept calling me. I was young, and I liked women too much,” Davido said.

The “Unavailable” hitmaker explained that the incident exposed him to the downside of celebrity life, particularly the loss of privacy that often comes with being a public figure. He added that the intense public reaction at the time took a heavy emotional toll on him.

Reflecting on the experience, Davido suggested it became an early lesson about the realities of fame and the importance of protecting one’s personal space despite living in the public eye.

Over the years, the Nigerian star has grown into one of Africa’s biggest music exports, earning global recognition through chart-topping songs, international collaborations and sold-out concerts. However, he noted that experiences like the one in Ghana reminded him that success often comes with challenges beyond the spotlight.

His remarks have since sparked conversations online about the need to respect the privacy of celebrities and the consequences of sharing personal moments without consent.
