Ghanaian Afrobeat and Hiphop artist, KiDi, seems to have had a tough upbringing.
His defiant behavior caused him a lot of problems at school and at home.
As per him, he was once reported to his father for stealing his teacher’s food.
The musician said on Joy Prime, that his father, who was fed up with his problems, instructed him to be stripped and thrown out of the house.
To avoid his father’s rage, KiDi was compelled to alter his ways.
“My dad called my big sister. He was like, ‘strip him naked; everything. No supporter, nothing, and then, when you’re done, put on his church shoes. So picture this: a young kid, naked, wearing only church shoes.
“My dad said, ‘since you want to act all grown up, leave my house and go and live in your own house.’ I’m still naked and wearing my church shoes. I started crying and walking out, and he called me back, and things have never been the same, so I feel like that punishment stuck with me more than any beating I have ever received,” he said.
The singer-songwriter also stated that he was incredibly stubborn as he grew up.
His father’s threat to kick him out of the house prompted him to reevaluate.
He stated that he was beaten upon many occasions as a form of punishment, but that this did not aid in his reformation.
He joked that if it hadn’t been for the beatings, he would have become a professional footballer, playing for the Black Stars and, most likely, Arsenal, his childhood dream team.
Despite his obstinate behavior, the Lynx Entertainment signee stated that he was a highly motivated person who engaged in a variety of extracurricular activities while in school, including sports, entertainment, and art.
These engagements transformed him into the music superstar he is today.
