Ghanaian rapper Darlington Kwasi Agyekum, popularly known as Dr Cryme, has revealed that his long-standing passion for caps has grown beyond a personal style choice, with plans underway to introduce his own cap brand.

The “Kill Me Shy” hitmaker said his connection with caps started during his childhood but became closely associated with his public image during the Kasahare era, when Ghana’s Twi rap movement gained widespread attention.

Speaking about his collection, Dr Cryme said he owns hundreds of caps and considers them a reflection of his journey and achievements.

“I’ve been wearing it since I was young. I love caps. Counting them would be like counting my blessings. I have more than three figures,” he said.

The rapper explained that he acquires caps from different sources and also enjoys personally searching for unique designs, comparing his passion to how some people collect shoes, watches or other fashion items.

Dr Cryme noted that comfort and proper fitting are key when choosing a cap, advising fans to avoid styles that are too tight because they can cause discomfort.

Beyond collecting caps, the musician disclosed that he is developing a personal cap line that will feature different colours, designs and a unique identity.

“My caps are not all LA. It’s good to have your own brand but not limit yourself,” he said.

Dr Cryme revealed that his home has a special space dedicated to storing his collection, with shelves filled from top to bottom. He added that he enjoys experimenting with different colours, especially unusual shades that stand out.

“When I see a colour and think, ‘What kind of weird thing is this?’ I buy it,” he joked.

The rapper, who has remained known for his distinctive fashion sense throughout his career, believes his upcoming cap brand will allow fans to connect with a style that has become part of his identity.
