Professor Charles Marfo, a lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has chastised Kofi Bentil, Vice President of IMANI Ghana, for his recent outspoken support of the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia.
In response to the news of changes in the majority caucus, where Alexander Afenyo-Markin is set to replace Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu as Majority Leader, Mr. Bentil called for space for Dr. Bawumia to lead, arguing that Afenyo-Markin is the best candidate.
“Let the Flagbearer run this show and don’t mess with Central Region.
There is no better person to lead in Parliament than Alex Markin.
Apart from his demonstrated competence and loyalty, he is from the strategic Central Region! It’s near impossible to lose CR and win the election!!
I can’t understand why his ascent will be resisted by persons on their way out. I really thought uncle Kyei will be gracious about this, and leave in glory after his illustrious career in Parliament. It’s not too late. Uncle Kyei Please let Alex move up, be the one to hand your seat to him graciously!!.
If as we suspect the VP slot will go to Ashanti then please give Parliament to Alex from Central.
I don’t know what the Flagbearer thinks but I think this is the best way, and hope everyone will listen to him and let him steer this ship.” He wrote on his Facebook page.
During a panel discussion on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the lecturer rubbished Kofi Bentil’s statement.
“Kofi Bentile has become loud for no reason. He is the minority leader. Ato Forson from the Central Region is supposedly the running mate for NDC now. Jane Nana Opoku Agyeman is also from the Central Region. So what is the NPP betting on? If finding individuals from the Central Region is the game changer, then the NDC was the first.” He told Kwesi Parker Wilson, host of the show.
