Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has clarified that the recent movement he established is not a political party but rather a platform aimed at pursuing political power in the country.
According to the former Minister of Trade and Industry, he established this movement as a means to mobilize individuals and resources in preparation for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Alan said he possesses distinctive selling points such as vision, competence, integrity, and the determination to shift Ghana beyond the dominance of the two major political parties (NPP and NDC), ensuring a change in the existing political landscape.
“What Ghana needs is a new transformational leader and not another political leader, hence the Movement for Change, which would be anchored on moving Ghana beyond the duopoly of the NDC and NPP towards a more united government, under which the governance structure will focus on one national agenda”, he explained to Kwesi Parker-Wilson, host of the show.
Alan Kyerematen said he would promote the establishment of a government of national unity, build consensus on a national development agenda, and inspire behavioral and attitudinal change in the people of Ghana.
On September 25, 2023, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen resigned from the NPP to establish the Movement for Change, with the intention of participating in the upcoming presidential election.
Introducing his movement, Alan Kyerematen announced that the emblematic logo representing his cause is the monarch butterfly. This majestic creature embodies the essence of change and transformation, as well as hope and positivity.
