Mother’s Day is a celebration most commonly observed in the months of March or May. It is a day celebrated to honour the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the impact of mothers in society. It is marked on distinct days in many parts of the world. This year’s Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, 14th May 2023.
It’s at the back of this that, Asantehemaa Kyeame, Nana Afia Abrafi II, who doubles as Bomso Hemaa, has stated that, the day is not necessarily meant to be with your mom; however, a phone call to praise her is enough to honour her.
“Mother’s Day is not about big gifts, you can pick up your telephone/mobile phone and call your mom to celebrate her and she will be happy.” Asantehemaa Kyeame stated on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, hosted by Akua Asieduwaa.
Nana Ama Achiaa Otumfour, [Fontomfrom Hemaa] on the other hand advised people not to celebrate their biological mothers alone, but to celebrate every woman who has played an impact in their lives.
“Mothers’ Day celebration isn’t about celebrating only your biological mom, it’s about celebrating any woman who has played a role in your life.” The \ said.
