The Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry and a member of parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti region Hon Dr Stephen Amoah has disclosed that at times he uses more of his pocket money on developmental projects than relying on government in his constituency.

Hon Dr. Stephen Amoah is currently the Member of Parliament for the constituency and seeking to retain his seat for the second time as he reveals most of the beautiful things he has achieved over the past few years in parliament.

According to him there is deception and propaganda from some contenders which speculates underdevelopment within the constituency.

This new development comes after there were some allegations that he was unable to bring the constituency the needed development which he believes are lies and deception from his opponent Kennedy Kwasi Kankam who has been a former member of Parliament for the constituency and seeking for a come back.

Speaking on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel Friday morning, the Nhyiaeso legislator argued that most of the developmental projects seen in his constituency are mostly done with his own pocket money, which he believes is sometimes the way to get the kind of development you want in your constituency.

“I know my country does not have much; that’s why, as an MP, I try to use my own money for some projects, which I think is the best way to help the country,” he stated.

He explained that sometimes he has to make payments for scholarships and fees for students within his constituency.

Adding to that, he has donated GH 10,000 and bags of cement to most of the churches situated in his constituency.

Notwithstanding, he has also embarked on many developmental projects, like the construction of water in different areas of the constituency.

It is surprising that even as an MP, he hardly gets to know or see his common fund because he has set up a committee that takes care of it and uses it for developmental projects.

“Look, I don’t even see my common fund as an MP because I have set up different committees within my constituency that take care of all that money, so I don’t even know the amount that comes… “My goal is to see to it that it is used for the right purpose to help develop the Nhyiaeso constituency,” he disclosed.

I can tell you that sometimes within August and September, the mobile money transactions I make just to make sure those on scholarships and other people have to be in school are like GH 150,000,000 just for school fees this last year,” he added.

He noted that he is fully committed to even using more of his own pocket money for the development of his constituency and the people in it in the small way he can as a member of parliament.
