A Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor, Japhet Yeboah, was fatally shot in a daylight robbery at Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region.
The tragic incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Nkrankwanta lorry station.
Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen arrived in a white RAV4 private car and initially posed as customers seeking a transaction. However, they quickly turned violent, attacking Japhet and demanding his money, which led to a struggle.
During the altercation, Japhet managed to unmask one of the attackers, but he was shot twice and died instantly.
Panic ensued as drivers, passengers, vendors, and bystanders at the station fled for safety while the robbers fired warning shots.
The assailants made off with an undisclosed amount of money, leaving Japhet in a pool of blood. His body has since been deposited at the Nkrankwanta Hospital as police launch an investigation into the crime.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
